Post Diagnosis Support Group

£300.00

Price:

£300 per participant. We offer a discounted rate of £500 for two parents of the same child.  Please note that the group is for one person per screen so if you are joining as a couple you will need to access it from different devices.

About the group:

A 3 week online group for parents/carers whose children have received a diagnosis of Autism.
Facilitated by Dr Zara Rahemtulla. You can read more about Zara here.

It can be difficult to know what to do next, or who to speak to, after your child has received a diagnosis of Autism. Our post diagnosis group will offer you a space to have your questions answered by a clinical psychologist, and they will help you to understand what a diagnosis of Autism really means for you and your child.

A specialist will explain why your child’s behaviour feels difficult to predict, and how you can best support your child in these moments. You will start to learn about emotional dysregulation and the important roles the brain and the body play in improving your child’s well-being and functioning.

Receiving a diagnosis of Autism can bring up mixed feelings for parents/carers and it can feel difficult to know how to talk about these. This group will also be a place for parents to meet and connect through similar experiences, and offer each other support throughout the process.

Session 1 :
My child has received a diagnosis of Autism - what does this mean for me and my child?

Session 2 :
The Body Budget - understanding my child's nervous system.

Session 3:
Emotion Regulation - an introduction to understanding my child's emotions.

All sessions take place online between 10-11am.

The support group is only available to people who can attend all three sessions - you will not be able to join half way through the course.

If you are interested in booking the Post Diagnosis Support Group, please enquire with our reception team for upcoming dates.
